Week 6+7

The Walking Man Cycle

We were given a tutorial and this walking man model/rig to animate. Following the online tutorials was pretty easy as we had practice from animating the ball with legs rig last week. It was easy and clear to follow the instructions, however, the rig wouldn't work properly so all i got to animate were the legs, hip sway and head tilt.
This rig was a lot more complex than the Walking Ball rig. In addition to the legs, you had the torso, arms and head to think about, as each actions affects the other half of the body in some way.
This is my rig now with the arms, swinging from side to side. I wanted to make this wake look feminine predominantly focusing on the way the hands move. They are tilted outwards and the arms are relatively tucked inwards to give it that feminine appeal.

Reference Media --> I took some reference shots of my sister walking to get an idea on how the body moves and works. In addition, there are extra shots of different parts of her body leading the rest of the walk.
