From this term I learnt a lot about drawing the essence of the pose and not to rely on just what you see. I didn't have to be to fine art style life drawings, but to capture the motion using curves and understanding the lines of action. Overall, it gave me a better understanding of what i was drawing, rather than just drawing a figure and not understanding the shift in weight, how the arcs and curves can show the position the figure is leaning towards or as a form of counter balance; when one side of the body's curve is pushed out a lot, the opposite side will have the counter balanced curve i.e. concave or convex to balance the figure out. It helped a lot to quickly capture the essence of the pose, from our 1 minute drawings.

We started learning about the line of action, a quick way to capture the pose and about using concave and convex curves. The last few drawings is a combination of both and with the curves, establishing a light source to find the apex of the curve. Then we would have to draw the curves opposite.

I really liked using the lines of actions , so I continued to use this method as i feel that it captures the pose a lot quicker and allows the shape of it to be more curved. We then used this method to make extreme poses, by fully pushing the curves and exaggerating the shapes, a similar style often seen in Disney Loony Tunes cartoons. Following on from that we were aught the 16 components of the body and to represent that, we had to draw arrows to represent where the part of the body was facing.

We had to draw the essence of the pose from memory. I used the line of action method to capture it and I quite like using this method to quickly capture a pose.
We then started to look at counter balance curves. A method to move the pencil across the page to capture the whole pose, rather than working from one side, from up to down the going back up the other side of the body. the motion mimics that of a zigzag going across the page.

Following from last weeks lesson, I tried to use the counter balance curve method. At first it was quite hard to do, but then i started to understand it more. Then i tried to use this method using my right hand to make it look more looser and fluid.

From what I've learned the past couple of weeks I tried to implement them in our last 2 drawings, which were 15 minutes long.
